The Performance Data Management function enables you to create multiple Dashboard Tabs for displaying performance data metrics obtained from the performance data store.
Each tab can contain a number of Dashboard Panels.
Note
Check with your administrator that the performance data service is enabled in your installation.
Dashboards are a collection of panels which are used for displaying performance metrics. The user who created a dashboard is the owner of the dashboard. Only the dashboard owner has the ability to modify or delete the dashboard.
Although only the owner can modify a dashboard, it can optionally be shared and viewed by other users.
To open an existing dashboard tab click the ‘Add dashboard tab’ icon.
This will then display a list of dashboard tabs that can be opened. This list contains the user’s own dashboard tabs and any shared ones.
Clicking on the name of a dashboard will enable the OK button so it can be selected.
Any user can do this, following the same steps as “Opening an existing dashboard” click the ‘Add dashboard tab’ icon, this will open the ‘Select Dashboard’ window then click the ‘New’ button to create a new Dashboard tab.
The new tab is given the default name ‘Untitled x’ and is added to the screen, to change the name and make any other changes the dashboard tab needs to be configured.
The user who created the tab can use the following icon to configure the dashboard tab.
Enter a name and a description to the dashboard tab, the name will be displayed on the dashboard tab to help identify it. Both the name and description will be displayed in the “Select Dashboard” window. The name doesn’t have to be unique but should be meaningful to help identify this tab for future use.
If the tab is to be shared with all users click the ‘share’ check box, other users can then view the tab but not make changes to it.
Note
Changes will only take effect when the ‘OK’ button is pressed.
To close the dashboard tab hover over the tab with the mouse pointer and a small red cross will appear, click this to close the tab.
To delete a dashboard tab, open up the ‘Select Dashboard’ dialog by clicking the ‘Add Dashboard Tab’ icon.
Click to select the tab you wish to delete, click the bin icon, a confirmation message will be displayed. Once the tab is deleted it cannot be retrieved and it would need to be recreated.
Note
Other users’ tabs cannot be deleted, only the “owner” can do this.
Multiple dashboard panels can be added to a dashboard tab, each panel displays a metric specified by a node path. Only the dashboard tab “owner” can add or delete panels from a tab.
Adding a dashboard panel creates a new blank panel on the dashboard tab with the label ‘undefined’. Once added the panel needs to be configured.
Clicking on the panels configuration icon will open a configuration window that allows the panel’s label and the node path for the required metric to be configured. It also allows a time window to be specified to control how much metric data to display. To the right of the time selector is a colour picker for the graph.
Node paths are dotted strings which indicate which metric to graph on the panel. Consult an administrator to know which node paths are available.
To delete a dashboard panel click the bin icon on the panels title bar.
